Afghanistan, May 25 -- Marco Rubio visited the historic Taj Mahal on Monday during his official trip to India, as Washington and New Delhi continue efforts to deepen political and security cooperation.

Media reports said Rubio toured the monument in Agra alongside his wife while Indian authorities enforced heightened security measures around the globally known tourist site.

The visit came during broader diplomatic engagements focused on expanding US-India cooperation in political, economic and strategic sectors amid growing regional and international challenges.

The Taj Mahal, one of the world's best-known landmarks, attracts millions of visitors annually and remains one of India's most important cultural and historical symbols.
