Afghanistan, May 16 -- Mike Waltz and other senior US officials renewed calls for the return of missing American author Paul Overby, accusing the Taliban of pursuing what they described as "hostage diplomacy" 12 years after his disappearance in Khost Province.

Waltz said the United States remains committed to bringing Overby home and announced rewards of up to $1 million for information leading to his safe recovery, while the US Justice Department and the State Department's Rewards for Justice program together are offering up to $5 million.
