Afghanistan, July 28 -- The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has documented 389 cases of arbitrary arrest and detention, 65 cases of ill-treatment, and 137 public floggings across Afghanistan during a three-month period, raising fresh concerns over the country's human rights situation.
In its latest quarterly human rights report, covering April 1 to June 30, UNAMA said it recorded widespread restrictions affecting women and men, including enforcement of dress codes, continued bans on girls' education, restrictions on female UN staff, and the implementation of new regulations affecting family life.
