Afghanistan, July 28 -- Nearly 400 civilians were killed or injured in Afghanistan between April and June 2026, largely due to cross-border fighting and explosive remnants of war, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said in a new report, warning that civilians continue to bear the brunt of escalating insecurity along the country's border with Pakistan.
According to UNAMA, 399 civilians were killed or wounded during the three-month period, with cross-border shelling, airstrikes and unexploded ordnance among the leading causes of casualties.
