Afghanistan, Sept. 21 -- The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said independent monitoring shows significantly fewer commercial vessels are transiting the Strait of Hormuz than figures released by the U.S. military, highlighting continued disruption to one of the world's most strategically important shipping routes.
In a security advisory issued early Monday, UKMTO said only a handful of vessels were observed moving through the strait in both directions, despite U.S. Navy data indicating that average traffic over the previous 72 hours exceeded 30 transits per day.
