Afghanistan, June 6 -- British police and prosecutors have dismantled an organized human smuggling network accused of illegally transporting 12 Afghan migrants, including a child, into the United Kingdom, authorities said.

According to local media outlet Essex Live, the suspects were identified and arrested following a lengthy investigation led by the National Crime Agency (NCA) and supported by police and security agencies.

Investigators allege that the Essex-based criminal network used a truck fitted with concealed compartments to smuggle the migrants into Britain. The group of 12 included Afghan Sikh migrants who were found hidden in dangerous conditions inside a secret compartment at the rear of the vehicle.
