Afghanistan, June 16 -- U.S. Vice President JD Vance said on Monday that the emerging agreement between Washington and Tehran would immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz and ensure that Iran does not acquire a nuclear weapon.

In a video message and media interviews, Vance said the agreement offers Iran a choice between rejoining the global economy through long-term commitments on its nuclear programme or facing continued isolation if it seeks to rebuild nuclear capabilities. He added that lower oil prices in recent days reflected market confidence in the agreement and the expected restoration of shipping through the strategic waterway.
