Afghanistan, May 13 -- The United States has not issued any Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs) to Afghan applicants since January 2026 after a presidential order suspended visa issuance for Afghan citizens, the U.S. State Department said on Wednesday.

In a new report, the State Department said processing of Afghan applications and interviews continues in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security and other agencies, but no visas have been issued to Afghan passport holders this year.

The report said about 18,319 visas were issued to Afghans in 2025, bringing the total number of Afghan SIVs issued since 2014 to around 50,500.
