Afghanistan, July 18 -- The United States has closed its consulate in Peshawar, transferring diplomatic responsibilities for Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad as part of a broader restructuring of its diplomatic presence in the country.
The U.S. Consulate General in Peshawar announced on X that engagement with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will now be handled by the embassy's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Unit (KPU) in Islamabad. It also said the consulate's official social media accounts have been discontinued.
