On Thursday, Septermber 18, the United States has vetoed a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, despite 14 members voting in favor.
The draft resolution, introduced in August after the UN formally declared famine in Gaza, followed nearly two years of war between Israel and Hamas.
It called for a permanent ceasefire respected by all parties and the unconditional release of hostages. The U.S. was the only member to oppose.
