Afghanistan, July 1 -- Around 50 people are killed or injured every month in Afghanistan by unexploded ordnance left behind after decades of conflict, with children accounting for nearly 80% of the victims, the United Nations said on Tuesday.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said Afghans should be able to live safely without the constant threat posed by hidden explosive remnants of war, warning that reduced international funding has sharply scaled back mine-clearance operations across the country.
