Afghanistan, July 12 -- Two people were killed and five others injured in a shooting during Toronto's annual Salsa on St. Clair festival on Saturday, prompting a major police investigation as authorities searched for those responsible.

According to Reuters, citing Toronto Police, the shooting occurred on July 11 during the popular street festival in the city's Midtown district. Emergency crews responded after reports of gunfire as thousands of people attended the event, which celebrates Latin American culture.

Police said two people died at the scene, while five others were taken to hospital with injuries. Authorities have not released the identities of the victims or provided an update on the conditions of those injured.
