Afghanistan, June 15 -- U.S. President Donald Trump told Russian President Vladimir Putin that ending the war in Ukraine remains a critical priority and said he was prepared to help advance efforts toward a settlement, according to the Kremlin.

Russian news agencies, citing Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov, reported that Trump reiterated the importance of ending the conflict during a phone call with Putin on Sunday.

According to Ushakov, Trump said he would discuss possible paths toward ending the war with European and Ukrainian leaders during the Group of Seven (G7) summit, which is scheduled to take place later this week.
