Afghanistan, June 25 -- U.S. President Donald Trump said European NATO allies did not offer support during Washington's recent confrontation with Iran, expressing disappointment over what he described as a lack of political backing from partner nations.

Speaking alongside NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House on Wednesday, Trump said the United States did not need military assistance but had expected allies to signal their willingness to stand with Washington during the crisis.

"We were disappointed. We didn't need their help, but it would have been nice if they had said they were willing to help," Trump said, adding that no European ally had made such an offer.
