Afghanistan, Oct. 8 -- U.S. President Donald Trump said Wednesday that a potential agreement with Iran is not his preferred option, even as his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, continues diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict.
Speaking at a Republican campaign rally in Texas, Trump praised Witkoff's work but signaled reluctance to pursue a formal deal with Tehran.
"He's working on the Iran deal and doing very well," Trump said, adding that an agreement was "really" not what he wanted but that Iran was willing to offer concessions to bring the conflict to an end.
