Afghanistan, Sept. 25 -- Thousands of students in Indonesia have fallen ill from food poisoning linked to the government's free meal program, raising urgent concerns over safety, oversight, and accountability.

Indonesia's flagship free meal program has come under fire after a new wave of mass food poisoning cases sickened more than 1,000 students in West Java this week.

Governor Dedi Mulyadi confirmed that cases were reported across four districts, with children falling ill shortly after eating meals distributed under the government-backed initiative of President Prabowo Subianto.
