Afghanistan, Sept. 15 -- Tehran's governor announced a second phase of deportations of migrants from Afghanistan will begin soon, citing social and economic benefits despite mounting humanitarian concerns.
Tehran's governor, Mohammad Sadegh Motamadian, announced that Iran will soon begin a second phase of deportations targeting Afghanistan migrants, stressing that the process will be pursued with "serious determination."
Speaking during a visit to Pishva district on Monday, he claimed that the expulsion of Afghans in recent months had led to what he described as social and economic benefits, including a reduction in crime, a fall of 5,000 tons in flour consumption, and less overcrowding in bakeries.
