Afghanistan, Sept. 22 -- Construction of the strategically important Serhetabat-Herat section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, creating the conditions for natural gas deliveries to Afghanistan in 2027, Turkmenistan's ambassador to Pakistan said.
Turkmen Ambassador Atajan Mulamov made the announcement during the "Ambassadors' Dinner 2026," hosted by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in Islamabad. He said completing the cross-border section linking Serhetabat in Turkmenistan with Herat in western Afghanistan would mark a major milestone in one of Central and South Asia's largest regional energy projects.
