Afghanistan, Aug. 20 -- Syrian and Israeli officials met in Paris with U.S. mediation to discuss reviving the 1974 ceasefire and reducing tensions in southern Syria amid ongoing clashes.

Syria's state news agency has reported that Foreign Minister Asad al-Shibani met an Israeli delegation in Paris on Tuesday to discuss regional stability and southern Syria.

Israeli Channel 12 earlier noted that Ron Dermer, Israel's Strategic Affairs Minister, was expected to participate in the talks. U.S. envoy for Syria Tom Barrack also attended, traveling from Beirut to join the meeting.
