Afghanistan, Aug. 2 -- Spider-Man: Brand New Day has set a new North American opening-day box office record, earning $168 million and surpassing Avengers: Endgame, while positioning itself for one of the biggest opening weekends in cinema history.

Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Brand New Day has broken the North American opening-day box office record with $168 million in ticket sales, overtaking the previous benchmark of $161 million set by Avengers: Endgame in 2019.

The Marvel-Sony blockbuster also established a new record for preview screenings, collecting $72 million before its official release, surpassing Endgame's $60 million preview total.
