French authorities have confirmed the death of Nkosinathi Emmanuel Mthethwa, South Africa's ambassador to France, after his body was discovered near a Paris hotel on Tuesday, September 30.

The Paris prosecutor's office said initial findings suggest he fell from the 22nd floor of the building. Police and security services have launched an investigation.

The incident came to light when the ambassador's wife alerted police on Monday, reporting him missing after receiving what she described as a "disturbing message."
