Afghanistan, July 12 -- The Senegalese Football Federation has dismissed head coach Pape Thiaw after the country's disappointing performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the reigning African champions were eliminated in the Round of 16 despite surrendering a two-goal lead against Belgium.

The federation announced Thiaw's departure after Senegal's campaign ended earlier than expected, bringing to a close a World Cup run that followed the team's Africa Cup of Nations triumph and raised hopes of a deep tournament finish.
