Afghanistan, Aug. 17 -- U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen has accused President Donald Trump and War Secretary Pete Hegseth of failing to adequately address the concerns of American sailors deployed in the Middle East, saying the continuation of the U.S. war with Iran is putting unnecessary pressure on service members.

Van Hollen wrote on Sunday night, August 16, that what he described as Trump and Hegseth's disregard for the sailors' situation was "shameful." He argued that the war with Iran was not making the United States safer and said ending the conflict would be the best way to protect American troops.
