Afghanistan, April 25 -- SCO deputy foreign ministers meet in Moscow, stress need for peaceful Afghanistan and discuss regional tensions including Iran conflict.

Deputy foreign ministers of member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization met in Moscow to discuss multilateral cooperation, Afghanistan, and wider regional developments.

Participants stressed that Afghanistan should become a country free from war, terrorism, and narcotics, reaffirming support for a peaceful, neutral, and independent state.

Russia's foreign ministry said the meeting also explored prospects for pragmatic dialogue with Taliban authorities and reviving the SCO-Afghanistan Contact Group.
