Afghanistan, June 28 -- Russia's Defense Ministry said it had destroyed two Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jets in a drone strike on an air base in southern Ukraine, as both sides continue to intensify long-range drone attacks in the fourth year of the war.

According to Russia's state-run TASS news agency on Saturday, the attack targeted the Voznesensk airfield in Ukraine's Mykolaiv region. Moscow claimed the strike also destroyed ammunition, a fuel tanker, a mobile power unit and killed flight and engineering personnel preparing the aircraft for takeoff. Ukraine has not commented on the claims, which could not be independently verified.
