Afghanistan, May 21 -- Russia and Belarus have launched joint nuclear exercises involving the deployment of nuclear-capable Iskander-M missile systems on Belarusian territory, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The ministry released footage showing Russian and Belarusian forces transporting and loading tactical nuclear munitions during drills that began this week in Belarus. The exercises include training for the "combat use of nuclear weapons."
According to Russian officials, Belarusian troops received the munitions, mounted them onto Iskander-M missile systems and moved them to undisclosed launch areas under simulated combat conditions.
