Afghanistan, July 7 -- Cristiano Ronaldo confirmed that the 2026 FIFA World Cup was the final World Cup of his career after Portugal were eliminated by Spain with a 1-0 defeat in the Round of 16 on Monday, but said he has yet to decide whether to retire from international football.
Spain secured victory through a late goal from Mikel Merino, ending Portugal's campaign and advancing to the quarterfinals.
Speaking after the match, the 41-year-old Portugal captain said he was disappointed by the result but satisfied that he had given everything for his country.
