Afghanistan, Oct. 26 -- A new polio vaccination campaign will begin Monday in Afghanistan's Paktika province, aiming to protect children under five and support efforts to eliminate the virus nationwide.

A new polio vaccination campaign is set to begin in Afghanistan's southeastern Paktika province as authorities work to eradicate the disease, health officials said on Sunday.

The "Polio-Free Afghanistan" initiative announced that the campaign will start Monday across all districts of Paktika and called on families to ensure their children receive the vaccine.

Both oral and injectable doses will be administered to children under five, officials said.
