Afghanistan, July 14 -- Poland's Border Guard detained 71 migrants, including several Afghan nationals, during a three-day operation along the country's borders with Lithuania and Belarus, as authorities intensified efforts to combat irregular migration along the European Union's eastern frontier.

In a statement issued on Monday, July 14, the Border Guard said the migrants were identified during coordinated operations on the Lithuanian and Belarusian borders. Authorities said those detained were processed under applicable legal procedures before being transferred to Lithuanian authorities in accordance with bilateral cooperation agreements.
