Afghanistan, Aug. 4 -- Pakistan has invited senior Iranian officials to visit Islamabad for political consultations as part of efforts to reduce regional tensions and support renewed diplomatic engagement between Iran and the United States, officials said.
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar discussed regional developments and bilateral relations during a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The ministry said prospects for reviving diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Washington were among the issues discussed.
