Afghanistan, April 17 -- At least eight people were killed and 11 injured after a gas pipeline explosion and fire in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in northwest Pakistan, according to local media.
The blast occurred in an industrial area, triggering a fire that spread to nearby surroundings and caused panic among residents.
Local authorities said several of the injured were taken to nearby hospitals, with some reported to be in critical condition. The explosion also damaged residential houses close to the site, with flames spreading to nearby buildings and causing property losses.
Emergency teams were dispatched to the scene to contain the fire and evacuate victims, while rescue operations continued for several hours.
