Afghanistan, Aug. 27 -- Severe monsoon rains and overflowing rivers in Pakistan have killed 802 people, displaced thousands, destroyed homes, and prompted the government to declare a national emergency.

Pakistan is grappling with devastating floods following intense monsoon rains and river overflows, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Gilgit-Baltistan among the hardest-hit regions.

Over 1,000 people have been injured, and nearly 7,500 homes have been destroyed, leaving tens of thousands displaced and in urgent need of shelter and aid.

In Punjab alone, rising waters of the Sutlej River have forced the evacuation of more than 174,000 residents from affected communities.
