Pakistan's security forces have begun an operation against militant hideouts in Bajaur district, near the Afghanistan border, prompting a mass displacement of civilians. Local residents reported that helicopters targeted suspected militant positions in remote areas, forcing more than 20,000 families, over 55,000 people, to leave their homes.
