Afghanistan, July 24 -- Oman's Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi has called for the Strait of Hormuz to remain open to international shipping and trade amid heightened tensions over the vital waterway during the U.S.-Iran conflict.
Al Jazeera reported Friday that Albusaidi made the remarks on the sidelines of a meeting marking the 50th anniversary of the ASEAN treaty.
He said vital waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz, should remain open and accessible to maritime traffic and urged countries to avoid actions that could restrict freedom of navigation or disrupt international trade.
