Afghanistan, June 24 -- Oman has announced the creation of a temporary maritime corridor for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, aiming to ensure safe navigation through one of the world's most critical shipping routes amid continued regional tensions.
According to Oman's state news agency, the route was established in coordination with the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Ships intending to use the corridor must coordinate with Omani authorities and follow navigation coordinates issued by the IMO.
Omani officials said the temporary route is designed to protect freedom of navigation and facilitate the safe movement of commercial vessels in accordance with international maritime law and the law of the sea.
