Afghanistan, June 11 -- The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has called for greater investment in livelihoods and job creation in Afghanistan, saying employment opportunities are essential to helping communities achieve self-reliance and resilience.
In a statement published on Thursday, OCHA shared accounts from families in Bamyan province who said their most urgent need is access to work. "We are ready to work; we just need opportunities," the agency quoted local residents as saying.
