Afghanistan, July 1 -- Norway reached the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a late goal from Erling Haaland secured a 2-1 victory over Ivory Coast in Dallas on Tuesday, booking a knockout meeting with Brazil.
Norway took the lead in the 39th minute through Antonio Nusa before Amad Diallo equalised after the break. With extra time looming, Haaland struck in the 86th minute to score his fifth goal of the tournament and send Norway into the next round.
The victory continues Norway's impressive return to the World Cup after years of failing to qualify for major international tournaments. Led by Haaland and a new generation of talented players, the Scandinavian side has emerged as one of the tournament's surprise contenders.
