Afghanistan, May 18 -- Afghanistan has launched the second round of its sub-national polio vaccination campaign for 2026, aiming to vaccinate more than 8.3 million children under the age of five across 20 provinces, the Public Health Ministry said.

The campaign is being implemented from May 18 to 21 in 194 districts covering central, southern, eastern, western, southeastern, northern and northeastern regions of the country. Health authorities said vaccination efforts in Kandahar, Helmand, Uruzgan and Zabul will begin one day later and continue until May 22.
