Afghanistan, Sept. 22 -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected recognition of a Palestinian state after Britain, Canada, Australia, and Portugal backed it, as more countries prepared to endorse a two-state solution.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned the recognition of a Palestinian state by Britain, Canada, Australia, and Portugal, insisting, "There will be no Palestinian state."

In a separate statement, Israel's foreign ministry said recognition efforts would "push peace further away," urging countries to instead pressure Hamas to disarm and release hostages.
