Afghanistan, July 15 -- A court in Nepal has sentenced two former cabinet ministers and 14 others over a scheme that used forged documents to falsely identify Nepali citizens as Bhutanese refugees in an effort to secure their resettlement in the United States and other Western countries.

The Kathmandu District Court sentenced former Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi to four years in prison after finding him guilty in the case. Former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand was sentenced to two years in prison as an accomplice, according to the court's ruling.
