Afghanistan, Aug. 31 -- NASA has successfully launched the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, its next-generation observatory designed to investigate some of the universe's biggest mysteries, including dark matter, dark energy, black holes and tens of thousands of planets beyond the Solar System. The telescope lifted off Sunday from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket.
According to the BBC's English service, the Roman Space Telescope separated from the Falcon Heavy rocket about 30 minutes after launch and has begun a 100-day journey to the Sun-Earth Lagrange Point 2 (L2), approximately 1.6 million kilometers (1 million miles) from Earth.
