Militants launched a car bomb attack on a Pakistani military base in the Mirali area of North Waziristan on Friday, sparking an exchange of fire, local officials said.

Authorities said three armed attackers tried to enter the compound after the initial explosion but were killed by security forces before breaching the perimeter.
