Afghanistan, Aug. 11 -- Former Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai has called for dialogue and reconciliation among Afghans and urged the reopening of schools for girls, saying education should not be treated as a political issue.
In an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, Karzai said Afghanistan's future depends on dialogue among Afghans, education for girls and greater opportunities for women to work. He said he continues to refer to Taliban officials as "brothers" and believes supporters and opponents of the Taliban must eventually find a way to coexist peacefully.
