Afghanistan, May 10 -- The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday that Israel built a secret military base in Iraq's desert regions during the recent 39-day conflict with Iran to support air operations against Tehran.

According to the report, the covert facility was established shortly before the war began and was built with the knowledge of the United States. Israeli special forces reportedly used the base as a logistical hub for Israeli Air Force operations targeting Iran.

The media said Iraqi forces were close to discovering the facility at one point, but Israeli airstrikes forced them to withdraw before reaching the site.
