Afghanistan, Oct. 19 -- Islamabad and Kabul reached a ceasefire agreement during Qatar-brokered talks in Doha, aiming to restore border stability and prevent further escalation after weeks of deadly clashes.

Qatar's foreign ministry announced Saturday that Islamabad and Kabul have agreed to a ceasefire following weeks of escalating border tensions.

The ministry said in a statement that the ceasefire seeks to pave the way for lasting peace and stability between the two neighboring countries.

Both sides also agreed to hold additional meetings in the coming days to establish a permanent mechanism for maintaining calm and preventing future clashes.
