Afghanistan, Feb. 11 -- Iraqi security forces captured ISIS Al-Anbar leader Abu Ayman Al-Rawi before a planned attack, detaining five additional members in a counterterrorism operation.

According to Iraqi authorities, the operation targeted the core ISIS cell in Al-Anbar, aiming to dismantle the group's complex terror network before any attacks could be carried out.

Among those arrested were Abu Al-Jais, logistics head Ghaib Awad, and Qusai Shaalan, responsible for explosive drones and chemical attack preparations, officials said.

Al-Anbar has long been a stronghold for ISIS, with prior insurgent activity exploiting desert terrain, challenging Iraqi forces' efforts to maintain long-term security.
