Afghanistan, June 21 -- An Iranian delegation has arrived in Switzerland for technical talks with the United States aimed at transforming a recently signed U.S.-Iran memorandum into a broader deal covering nuclear issues, sanctions relief and regional security arrangements.
The negotiations at the Burgenstock resort mark the first major follow-up meeting since Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum to end months of conflict and launch a 60-day diplomatic process. The talks come as some U.S. lawmakers question the viability of the agreement. A Democratic congressman recently told Reuters that the deal appeared to be "already falling apart," citing continued disagreements and regional tensions.
