Afghanistan, May 19 -- Mohsen Rezaei, a member of Iran's Expediency Discernment Council, said Tehran would force the United States "to retreat and surrender" amid rising tensions between the two countries.
Al Jazeera reported on Monday night, May 18, that Rezaei adopted a hardline tone and appeared to criticize U.S. President Donald Trump over what he described as setting a "deadline for military action" before later backing away from it.
Rezaei said the move was intended to pressure Iranian officials and the Iranian people into surrendering to U.S. demands. "The iron fist of Iran's powerful armed forces and great nation will force them to retreat and surrender," he said, according to the report.
