Afghanistan, March 7 -- Iran's deputy foreign minister warned European countries they would become legitimate targets if they join U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran.

Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Iran's deputy foreign minister, warned that any European Union country participating in U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran would become a legitimate target for retaliation.

Speaking in an interview with France 24 on Friday, Takht-Ravanchi said Tehran would respond directly to any EU country involved in military operations against Iran.

His remarks come as tensions across the Middle East continue to escalate following joint strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian targets.
