Afghanistan, June 6 -- Iranian authorities have seized a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian state-affiliated media, marking the latest incident in one of the world's most strategically important maritime chokepoints amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington.
Iran's Fars News Agency reported on Saturday that the vessel, identified as belonging to the U.S.-based shipping company Arista, was detained by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for allegedly violating navigation laws and transit regulations in the Strait of Hormuz.
